Eastern Bluebird
I followed this eastern bluebird as he hopped around close to the forest floor. In flight, his brilliant blue head and back caught my eye, and for a second I thought maybe it was a blue jay. But his size and orange throat and chest proved him to be a bluebird. He wasn’t alone in this area of the woods. Above him were nuthatches and creepers, while on other tree trunks in the area red-bellied woodpeckers were hammering away looking for insects.
