Ospreys Round Two
Just like Tom the bald eagle, once I find the perching spots for birds of prey I tend to keep going back and stalking them. So for the second day in a row I went and watched these two osprey parents. At one point an older couple came to his tiny spot corner of the park where I was watching the birds, and they were convinced the ospreys were really marsh hawks (aka hen harrier), which they claim to see frequently in the weeds next to the river hunting. I’m pretty sure Virginia doesn’t have any summer-time harriers, and I couldn’t find any likely candidate for a hen harrier in my bird app for Alexandria today. But, who knows.
